The William Land "Bonus" What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, so they say. Not this time, not with William Land. Land is one of the most notorious card marking cheaters who has set foot in Nevada’s casinos. Born William Gene Land in Hazard, Kentucky, William was quick to learn the different card marking schemes commonly used in playing card tricks and also used in cheating casinos out of millions. Land became a master at the different shading technologies that have been perfected by the pioneers of this craft. Land and his group of card marking cheaters began amassing money from such scams, reputedly earning approximately $1,000,000.00 US dollars from targeted casinos. According to experts, amassing millions of dollars was not that difficult to do, if you are a master at the different shading techniques in card marking scams. Word of William Gene Land started to spread. Soon enough, Land was placed on the List of Excluded Persons, otherwise known as Nevada’s famous Black Book. This list contained the names of people who were banned to enter the casinos of the Nevada strip, some of these names included some powerful people that were reputed to be involved in organized crime. Land landed on this list in the year 1988. Interestingly, this did not stop Land from continuing his card marking scam. It was only in the year 1994 that his arrest forced him to stop. But this was already after he had headed another card marking scam at an Indian casino situated in Washington. The figure Land got from leading that card marking ring has been pegged at more than a million dollars. These days, William Gene Land has been quite silent. In fact, there’s not much word going around in the card marking circles underground. All that is known about Land right now is that he is presently residing in Las Vegas, Nevada. Perhaps he has decided to turn over a new leaf, knowing that he had already scammed millions of dollars to his name just by marking cards. |
